The Pontiac GTO Ram Air IV is a rear wheel drive car, with its motor located in the front, and a 2 door coupé body. It is powered by a naturally aspirated engine of 6.5 litre capacity. This unit features overhead valve valve gear, 8 cylinder layout, and 2 valves per cylinder. It has an output of 370 bhp (375 PS/276 kW) of power at 5500 rpm. The pinnacle of the Trans Am lineup was to be the new Ram Air V, developed to meet the Trans American Racing Series' 5-liter, 305-cubic-inch engine homologation requirements. The motor used a shaved 400 block fitted with a radical tunnel port intake to create a short-stroke, 303-cubic-inch engine that redlined at 8,000 RPM.
